Engine dieseling

I have a 305 and it's dieseling and I don't know why can someone please help please

First thing I would do is check your timing. If it's too retarded, in can possibly cause dieseling.

Idle is set too high, or the idle speed control solenoid is sticking open. Timing should be 4*BTDC.
Timing should be set while the trans is in drive.
Vacuum leaks will do it too.

mine did that, i turned in the adjustment screws on the front of my edelbrock about a 1/4 turn and it stopped doing it
