Came with a 350, has a 292 now
Hello, I’ve got a 73 c10 Cheyenne. Came with a 350, it has a 292 now. When I went to check my trans fluid I accidentally touched an exposed wire with the dipstick. Saw sparks and the truck shut off. With key off, I have 8 volts to where the ignition fuse is supposed to be at. Key on, I have no power. Have power at the starter with key off, as well as both sides of the junction block. Any ideas? My best guess right now is ignition switch, can’t work on it due to bad storms here in Georgia and it’s at my buddy’s house an hour away from my house.

Check the fusible link where the wire from the alternator connects to the power junction that is next to the brake booster. If you squeeze the wire you may find it is burned inside (it will easily compress), but you can’t really see the burned area on the outside.
