Have not had an EGR on this vehicle for years, all of a sudden the service engine light comes on, checked the codes it came up #32 (EGR system failure). Turn engine off, turn it back on and drive and no light. No seat of the pants difference in the way it runs, very smooth by the way. What would make the ECM throw a code when it feels like it? Live with it?

Unless you have a MAP sensor issue, which I doubt because you said it’s running fine, the computer may have just noticed that the valve wasn’t doing anything because the parameters it looks for may not have been met for long enough. Sometimes it can pick up on things relatively quickly, and sometimes it can be quite dumb. I don’t mind the EGR valve being there and doing it’s thing. My Jimmy will notice EGR problems instantly. My car, which uses CCC, could go for twenty years and never notice them.

I removed the entire egr system on my Nissan cause it was running like ****. 4 days later my service engine light came on. That made me laugh so hard, I opened the dash and removed the service engine light. It's behaved well ever since.

If you removed the EGR and it's properly sealed, you likely have a vacuum leak somewhere. That will throw a Code 32.
