Hey everyone I'm currently in the middle of a 6.0l swap in my 79 k10 the truck has factory AC so room under the dash is pretty tight. My stand alone harness was made to be mounted on the passing side of the truck inside the cab. With the ecm being so large the only solution I have came up with is mounting it on top of the heater box but I'm going to have to cut into back of the cowl in order for it to fit nicely and not have to sacrifice my gloves box.

I've attached a picture of where I'm going to have to cut in order to get the computer to slide in there far enough and be hidden.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has any other solutions befor I start cutting.

Would it be an option to mount it to the firewall or under the seat?

Or in the glove box, but where would you put your gloves?

Under the hood, on the DS fender well or the firewall between the wiper motor & wiring bulkhead. If its a stock ECM it should be able to handle it.

If it’s a stock ECM, put it under the hood. The factory PCM were under the hood, they are environmentally sealed, and will work just fine. Obviously mount it in a place to limit heat and weather, but compared to how crammed things are under the hood of late model vehicles a square body truck should be pretty forgiving.

When I did my swap in the 73, I put in on the drivers side inner fender and the moved the battery above it. I can access it easily. I setup my swap to look like under the hood of an 02 Silverado.
