I was preparing to do a simple blinker mod on my dually fender clearance lights until I exposed the wiring in the loom running to each fender.
I expected to find one hot wire and one ground wire. To my surprise, I find two brown wires and one black wire leading to the passenger fender and two brown and two black leading to the driver fender.
What the heck?

Black is ground and brown is running lights. The two black on the driver side are both ground, one is the ground shared throughout the harness and the second ground goes to a ground screw behind the driver light.

At least that’s what the one in the junkyard had that I took the harness from.

@stpeteblue,

Are the lights you're talking about those lights on the front of your dually fenders, I see in your little picture of your name? What is that truck?

They really stand out at night. Beautiful I think. And practical! Protect those factory fiberglass classic parts at all cost!

These wires go to both the front (amber) and rear (red) dually fender clearance lights.
The truck pictured is the 1989 Top Kick mentioned in my signature.
