My 82 K5 has the quad shock setup but the PO removed the second one on each side when the 4" lift was installed. The shocks are shot and was thinking about put quads back on.
Any recommendations on quads with a 4" lift, superlift, rancho, pro comp, tuff country...?

The parts book shows two of the same shocks per corner.

Delco shows two different part numbers, as do the aftermarket manufacturers. The shocks are physically different, one long and one short. Maybe on the pre '80 trucks they were the same? I note that there is no part number in your picture, it refers to "See catalog."

Right, there is about 1 inch difference in length when looking at the top mount.
The bottom use the same location.

I guess the factory shocks were so soft doubling up on them wasn't too much.

I don't know what the valving on the second shock was like. But I'd doubt it was as aggressive as the other shock.

Just to make it more complicated, I was looking up the Delco part numbers and found that Delco has completely different shocks for the quad option vs regular dual. However, most aftermarket suppliers use the same outer shock in both. Sorry for any confusion.

My 3/4 ton Burb has quad shocks and a 4 inch BDS lift. The shocks are just basic shocks, nothing fancy at all. I was always happy with the ride on 33's, and it's just as good or better with 36's.
