Drive shaft rubbing "Y" pipe

So I just bought this 86 Custom Deluxe. Had to have it towed to my house and fix some things the PO was working on to get it running. Still have some tuning to do but it runs. I noticed the front drive shaft appears to be rubbing on the "Y" pipe of the exhaust. It has a practically brand new Rough Country 4" lift on it. Still has stickers on the springs. Anyone else had this kind of issue? What did you do to correct it?

Yep. When I bought my k20 I wondered why the front shaft was sitting on the floorboard. Cut the exhaust out, and reinstall correctly with the shaft installed. Need about 2 inches clearance at ride height.

Ok. At work so cant get any pics right now. It is touching at ride height so I will cut it and distance by 2" minimum. Couple of couplings should do the trick. I'll post some pics when I get a chance. Thanks.

Got a pic. This is what I'm looking at now. Thought about cutting the down pipes and extending but they are angled a little different on each side. I may still be able to do it. Have to look a little closer when I have more time. Probably wouldn't be so bad if it only had a 2" lift which is what I'd really like to have.

That is a possible solution. I just bought a set of headers for the other truck that is not going to run for a while as I just started tearing it apart for restoration. I'd like to see if I can come up with an alternative solution first though.

The Y-Pipe is the worst design exhaust ever. It scavanges very poorly.
The restriction on the passenger side head flow is enormous.

Somebody got creative with the pipe added going down the passenger side, cut into the Y-Pipe.
So you don't neet to connect them, if you don't want to.

(It is not even close to an X-Pipe, the way it is now anyways).
Craig85's solution is good enough for a pickup, because the equalizer is reasonably short, however on the 4WD it will be a PIA.

You ever need to drop your transmission, somewhere down the line, you'll be glad the stoopid Y-Pipe is out the way.

Add 2 new modern Cats, weld up the holes and call it good for another 100,000 miles or replace the entire mess with a 2-1/5" system with turbo's like Craig's.

I like the sound of true dual pipes, easy to work in stuff underneath, mine exit in front of the rear tires. When I smokem, it makes a huge cloud. Also great if you actually use your truck as a well, truck.

Into a 3 inch pipe, high flow cat, magnaflo muffler and single exit. Clean, simple , effective. Does nobody watch Engine Masters? The Dyno proves you don't need big azz tubing and all that crazy junk. The single 3 makes more hp than duals almost every time. No h or x pipe. Be realistic about how the engine operates. I rarely top 4 k.
