These are kind of expensive for occassional use in the garage at home but I have these on my service truck. I first used these overseas on armored vehicles, these were the only things that would drill through the armor. More recently, I drilled out some broken grade 10 studs in a Cummins QSX30 exhaust manifold. HSS and cobalt bits would barely scratch the surface before they would break, these would eat through them like drilling through wood.

One caveat though, they're fragile and they dont like more than 500rpm. Any faster than that and they'll create unnecessary heat and the carbide wont think twice about coming off. I use mine on a low speed air drill like his one: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200305403_200305403

Hope this helps
