I have a 1974 Cheyenne c20. The passenger side door is binding on the fender when I open and close it. It operates, but rubs. There is a little space between the door and the b pillar, so I might be able to slide it back a hair, but not much. Otherwise I guess I would have to adjust the fender forward?

Is there a way to slide the fender forward 1/8 inch or so, or do I need to try to slide the door back? Can anyone walk me through either of those procedures?

I’ve fixed a bunch of little nagging issues on my truck during this Coronavirus lockdown, and this is the one left. For now.

It looks like I might need to remove the fender to access the bolts. Is that correct?

access to the bolts sucks but can be done. check the bushing in the hinges before making any adjustments. they need to be replaced most likely.

Fender or door.
IMO, the fender bolts are easier to get to, and you wouldn't risk scratching up such a nice truck, but you'll be moving the rad support, inner fender well, grill, and everything else with the fender.

The bushings he's referring to are on the door hinge pins for the 2 hinges.
Those bushing eventually give out sooner or later from carrying the weight of such heavy doors.

You also might be able to cheat it a hair by moving the bottom of the fender out (crosscar).

You can do this by adding a shim at the lowermost attachment of the fender dogleg. You can also stick a big prybar into the bottom of the fender via the door opening and give it a good pry outboard but some folks might find that offensive.
