Do these body seams look original or could the fenders be an aftermarket replacement? Autocheck, which is almost worthless, shows no accidents on the truck. I remember buying the shop truck at a place I worked - a '73 3/4 ton that they had replaced the fenders with Taiwan panels and they fit about like this....only worse.

These aren't cheap made - very good steel and zero rust. Just the way these seems line up looks odd. Truck is getting stripped to a shell next year....just wunnerin if I need to look for original fenders. If this is how they came, I'll fix that part too.

I remember first hand that 80s American cars weren't much to write home about quality-wise, thus the 12 month / 12,000 mile warranties......they knew what they built.

I've built Chevy trucks in the past that had factory fenders from donor trucks that fit like this. Trucks from different assembly plants always varied to some degree.

I’ve wondered the same thing. Looks much worse in pics because of the angle I took them. But still noticeable. I’ve just learned to live with it I guess.

Yeah, if the character line running down the side, and the door and hood gaps are pretty close, that's about all you can ask for.

I've spent hours trying to get the door and hood gaps looking ok. "My advise to you is learn to live with it" Funny Farm movie.

Those gaps are pretty good, I've seen worse on trucks that have never been in an accident.
Quality control wasn't the greatest in the 80's. They just want to get them out the door.

That seems to be the 'norm'. I don't believe I've ever seen any 2 alike.
If I'm not mistaken, all squares were built in Flint, Michigan.

You are mistaken. My current one was built in California and I had an 86 built in Canada. That being said, there was no workforce with a worse attitude than Flint UAW members back in the day so if you got something that kind of looked close consider yourself lucky.
