Take out the transmission crossmember and lower it down? I remember having to install one about 20 years ago and I think that's what I did.

I recently installed a new ProForm dipstick housing (with locking dipstick) on my 82 C10's TH350 without removing anything. All I had to do was hold a 2x4 edgewise on top of the tube and tap it with a hammer. Mine came with a rubber bushing, unlike factory models that were metal on metal and required silicon sealant. But I've been able to get zero leaks from both types. And the one with no bushing was installed around 8-10 years ago.

Turning the tube and leaning it in different directions helps. It'll go in easy without having to mess around taking anything apart, I think turning it is the biggest part.
