Dimple Dies

I am looking at making some dimple die sets, 4140 (maybe 1141) heat treated and black hard anodized. These will only be available in sets so what would you like to see? Maybe 1", 1-1/2, 1-3/4, 2" and 2-1/2"? Pricing will be determined by what sizes I land on for a set but they will be much more affordable than others on the market.

I want to keep it to a set of 5 sizes at most. This is the style I am talking about

Seems like a good assortment, but personally, I'd rather have a 1-1/4 in there and do without the 2-1/2 size.

I tend to build smaller stuff, so I made 1/2" 3/4" 1" 1-1/4" and 1-1/2"

Got my sample off the manual mill today and ran some tests soon as I got home.

On the left is 20ga, then 16ga, then 3/16. I designed it for 1/8" max but didn't have any in the shop. What do you guys think?

Taking a while to get pricing back from the heat treater. Hope to have specs and pricing next week.

I decided on two sets, a 4 and 7 piece

4 piece is:
1/2", 1", 1-1/2", and 2"

7 piece is:
1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 1-3/4", and 2"

i definitely cant wait for a set. been looking around but havent found one yet. what about oval dies? have any interest in forging a set of those?

Definitely would buy a set, especially if your prices are affordable. I've never seen them go for less than 70 bucks per size and up the larger the sizes.

I have considered some shaped punch and die sets but the cost goes way up as they have to be fully machined on a mill VS a lathe like these round ones.

Ok guys I have pricing lined out finally

Small Set (4 piece): 1/2", 1", 1-1/2", 2" is $185 shipped in the US

Large Set (7 piece): 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 1-3/4", 2" is $300 shipped in the US

Not sure just yet how long it will take me to get them made but I will ballpark it at about a month. Unless interested is extremely high I am going to start with only 15 sets of each. If you are interested let me know and I will get a list going and notify you when I actually have them in my hands and you can place your order at that time.
