is there an additional fitting that I didn't think to take off old pump high pressure outlet before returning core. I haven't brought it out to truck yet, getting ready to put bracket and pulley on and read paperwork w/ new 1 that it may have had such. 81 1ton w/ hyrdroboost

If you need a fitting off of the old one go back soon, most places return cores frequently so they don’t have to store a bunch.

I already missed that boat...that's why I was asking if there is something else back there on other's trucks pumps from that era

Besides forgetting stuff like fittings, there's always the issue of defective parts. Never ever return your core until the replacement is installed and working.

None that I recall. 90's trucks often had a pressure fitting there and they used the same basic pump which is likely why it was mentioned in the paperwork. You also gotta watch out for bolt/stud placement on the back. Some use a stud in one area of the pump that not all reservoirs have a provision for.

The big difference is the early squares have the pressure hose with SAE inverted seat to go into that relief valve. Later squares have a pressure hose with the metric "O" ring fitting.
