Diagnosing a transfer box noise ?

On my 88 Blazer I get a noise or rumble when I am slowing down from 60 MPH. It doesn't make any noise acceleration, only when I'm off the gas pedal coming down? It feels a little in the seat and steering wheel. Any advice is appreciated !

First check the transfer case fluid level. Some of the later ones would rub a hole in the case and loose all the fluid.

Check the u-joints on the drive line.

Good idea, Thank you. ALL of the u-joints downstairs and up front are all original ? and the ones where the front axles meet the spindials are horribly coated with mud, but I washed the mud but their still very rusty on the out sides. But not leaking any grease ?

Check differential input spindle bearings. Remove differential cover and check side bearings in ring gear carrier.
Had similar happen on a 87 K1500, vent hose had broke off, allowed moist air into housing, directly routed on top of side bearing, humidity rusted the bearing out. from heat too cool cycle, sucks in a lot of moisture.

I changed it when we did the overhaul of the running gear, it takes ATF
