Time to change my coolant in my 2003 Silverado. I'm trying to decide if I should just keep the Dexcool or try to flush out everything and change it to the "normal" green anti-freeze.

Thoughts?

normal unless you have an aluminum block and radiator.

What is the best way to flush it? I have always used distilled water when mixing my antifreeze as the tap water here has high levels of minerals and calcium in it.

Seems that when most flush they just use a garden hose in the radiator cap and pull a lower hose. Then start it, let it circulate, then dump it again.

So at some point the dexcool will be gone, but then have a lot of tap water. How do I get that out?

best to use gallon bottles of distilled water while draining it out. this way you just put in the green stuff and go.

Personally, I'd just drain it and then refill it with the "all makes" type green antifreeze. Unless something is clogged, flushing is more of a gimmick, but that's another discussion.
