I am not making it to a sticky track any time soon to get better times. Don't have sticky tires either. But might get some 12s runs

11's on a 5.13 gear with a 30" tire in the 1/4 will be hard for most of us to beat. But the title was daily drag race to be fair lol

I still wanna see a printed time or a screen shot on the app. Lol

Who drives a 5.13 gear as a daily? Lol

It's cool I like to see fast times no matter what but, if no pics it didn't happen. Lol

I would drive a 5.13 gear, potent 327 everyday if I could afford it.

I do every day if the weather is ok, and I like it a lot, I even drive it to the dump. I can assure it happened, its not a big deal to me, the 350 going in there next which will be quicker/faster. My runs were made at little river, feel free to see it person.

Not calling you a liar I'm genuinely curious. I have a 454/th350 with 3.73 posi rear end and 28" tires. I can't daily drive it to work (12 miles one way) because it runs 2800rpm at 55 and I'd burn up the motor. I'm putting a 700r4 in it because I need overdrive. Lol

Plus I can't keep the tires from spinning from a dead stop when I punch it. It's fun to drive around town but can't take long drives unless I keep it around 45mph. And you can see my 1/4 mile time is slow af. Lol

But I guess your at an actual drag strip so your tires probably hook up at the hole shot.

Nah, you won't burn it up unless the motor isn't healthy to begin with. Chevy sold a lot of cars and trucks with similar combos, even in the "modern" era. The '90 454 SS came with a th400, 3.73 gears, 275/60 tires and a 3yr/36k warranty too, just like all the other trucks.

I had close to 30,000 miles on the 327 when I sold it for 5300.00, it gave me great service, I couldn't have had 2000.00 in it intake to pan, and my 12 year old son at the time built most of it. I didn't have 5.13 gears in it for all 30,000 miles.

I got same set up except transmission. What rpm you running at 60? Before I had 2.75 rear end and it cruised 65 under 3k. I'll get a better judge of it tomorrow as I'll take it for a test drive on the highway.

Beats me, there's no tach lol. I won't lie, it definitely sounds like it's racing down the interstate at 70 mph or so, but there's nothing wrong with that. Half of it is fan noise though, I don't like the current fan clutch at all.

I drove 88 with sm465 and 4.56 with 30" tires for a while. That bbc sounded like it was going to go out with a bang at 80mph. Had 300k hard miles on it at that point.

We have been spoiled with late model overdrive transmissions. GM built a lot of trucks with 4.10 gears, in all honesty 2800 rpm is nothing to a engine in good mechanical condition. If there was any concern about long term durability or warranty claims, that much gear would have never been authorized for sale.

We all like to think we beat up and abuse our trucks, the durability and reliability testing GM put their cars and trucks thru is 10 times worse than anything the in the field.

While I agree 5.13s would be a little uncomfortable, I’m betting a 4L80 would tame that enough for daily use.

I did work with a guy that had 4.88 gears in 70 nova, it had a really rowdy 377 small block. He drove that car whenever it was nice, regardless of distance. I certainly wouldn’t want to, and not because of the gear. The damn “Dronemaster” exhaust was so loud, he drove the car with ear muffs to protect his hearing. The car was a blast, it sounded great shifting at 7700rpm.
