We trailer towed our 1979 dually, fully loaded with stuff, with our 1995 Suburban 1500, 2 wheel drive, 350/4L60, over 235 miles, on a move from SoCal to Arizona . The trailer had NO BRAKES, so I down shifted the trans for most of the braking . The empty truck weighs 5680, and the trailer (around) 1600 . Knowing the route, "when and where" the down hill sections of road were made a great difference in the overall trip time . I knew not to fly over a hill top at 70, only to find 2 miles of steep down hill road ahead . I'd roll up over the hill peaks going into a long down hill at 50, and have plenty of braking, control, and emergency exit space, just in case a problem came up . Don't be in a hurry, and you should have no problems .
