So I finally got some tires on my cragars. 15x6, 5 on 5. The problem I have is that the wheel stud holes are wallowed out to where when you screw the wheel nuts ( cragar Ss mag short shanks) on, they have almost a 1/16" play in between the wheel hole and lug nut on all 5 holes.... I don't think the wheel will stay centered when they are tightened on and the vehicle is on the ground. Question is, is there anything thing I can do about wallowed out wheel holes? Or am I just S.O.L. On this rim?

The crappy thing is, these are stamped November of 1970 for manufacturing date. I don't think I'm gonna find another one to match. I'm hoping the guy I got them from has another.

If you really want to run that wheel, you can look for some metric wheel studs that fit. The reason being that some older Toyotas used a nice shank style lug nut and the shank is a smidge larger than the normal Crager type lug. They might fit your wheel great.

Or just replace that wheel.

hold on, cragar ss wheels unless they are pre drilled for one single bolt pattern, have an oblong hole in then and require the use of a offset washer for the large and small bolt patterns and they sell them in sets with the right mag nuts thru summit, we bought some.

So what you are saying being rounded out could just be them being normal cragr wheels, but not a 16th, usually they fit from a 4.5-5 so they have like 1/4 or in your case like a entire lug thickness under each.

you can also buy brand new cragar thru summit too.

I had assumed that there was visible damage to the holes, since only one wheel was in question.

But that does bring up a good question. IIRC, I have a pair of really old Cragars that have a dedicated Chevy pattern. Is it possible three wheels are not uni-lug and the fourth one is a uni-lug?

lol, its not kosier by any means, but i was thinking a peice of tubing(copper/conduit), and cut it down to take up the slack between the lug nut and the wheel.

good point Andy I missed that part and it could very well be unilug and the others not.

They still sell predrilled only 1 fit for 5x5 patterns but they will not fit metric studs it says.

Thanks guys. It won't allow me to post pictures from my phone on here. Its definitely not a uni lug. Its got about a 1/16" gap in between the wheel stud and the wheel whole. They are definitely wallowed out. I bought some bearing spacers that measure out 5/8" interior hole, 3/4" exterior, 1" length. They will work, just gotta figure out how to get the mag lug nut (which has a 5/8" shank) in the 5/8" interior bushing?? I'm gonna try and heat the bushing up and get the wheel nut knocked into it. Hopefully that will work. Can the wheel holes be welded and tried back out the original size??

Alright I found some wheel studs that where a M12-1.5 that had a wider shank on them. They were for a 80's Toyota truck!! Also found the washers I need as well. I'm back in business! Pumped. Thanks again for the help.
