Coil spring replacement?

My coil spring compressor set does not work with these GM A arms. I've heard that some people use floor jacks to lower the bottom A arm to let the springs out...can they be re-installed the same way? Sounds sort of risky to me...

I did it that way on my Camaro, just use some heavy chain and chain the coil to the frame. I did have to use a compressor to get it back in though. Damn thing just would not slip back in using the jack only. Coils are a pain, get used to it lol.

Thanks. I made my own compressor with some heavy threaded rod and bar stock, but I couldn't get one of the springs in right and need to do it again...was wondering if there was a better way

chain the upper a arm to the base of a good floor jack. might have to make a special chain. highdesertranger
