Cleaned the interior - 1973 K10 farm truck

Task for the day. Clean out the interior of the 1973 K10 revival. I have had the truck for a year almost exactly after reviving it from his grave where it sat since 1997 in a barn.

Other than the dash pad having some cracks and one minor tear in the driver side of the seat, it’s in pretty darn good condition on the inside. Wish the outside was as nice lol. In my rush, I did not take pictures of the interior before I started today, but let’s just say there were a bunch of vintage aluminum can tops from probably beer or soda from the 80s/90s based on the shape all over the floor. And lots of other crap. Thankfully it had floor mats. I did find one picture of the dash from a year ago before we revived it. That’s the last one attached.

I did not wipe the windshield out as it’s getting replaced on Tuesday. The pitting is real.

Excellent! I used a dashmat to cover the crack in my pad. The seat is fine, I just like the Mexican blanket.

Now for some more quick exploration.
Remove the 5 screws on the glove box hinge and slip the glove box out so you can seen the heater plenum behind it. Remove the screws (3?) that hold the vertical piece on the face of the plenum.
Now look inside the plenum to discover what has fallen down the defroster vent over the years. This is the same pile of junk that prevents the heater controls from operating properly, so it’s worth checking.

I’ll do that soon. Definitely curious.

The heater controls do work but are finicky/touchy. The vacuum line in the engine bay was disconnected as I found out, so I finally can control the blend doors and get heat where I want it. Blower motor was replaced the week we revived it due to it being frozen/humming as soon as you turned the key.

With the glove compartment door removed you can also reach the top of the plenum and check the adjustment of the heat blend door. You can also see the vacuum lines that run to the recirculate vacuum motors (there are two, with a T in the line) and if you look carefully you can see two more vacuum motors mounted on the plenum. If you move the controls back and forth you can watch the door that controls defrost/dash air flow. It has two vacuum motors that move it, and its common that the link mounted on the door has broken loose and its not moving properly. LMC and other places sell the new link.
