So I have been trying to fix my cigarette lighter but have not had any luck. It has not worked since I bought the truck, and neither has the horn. From what I have read on many forums they seem to work on the same fuse. I pulled my stereo out a awhile back so I have access to all the wiring. There was already an aftermarket stereo in it when I bought it. There is a loose connection that I cannot figure out what it goes to. The wire was exposed and blew the horn/dm fuse so now my dome light doesnt work. Anyone have any idea what this connection goes to? It is behind the stereo. The orange wire is a constant power and when I test the continuity between that orange wire and the orange wire to the cigarette lighter they appear to be on the same loop. Thanks for any help.

That’s the connector for the factory radio. I believe you will find a brown wire also in the connector, it supplies power from the tail light circuit for backiightimg the radio dial. Repair the orange wire, it’s on the same fuse as the lighter and courtesy lamp. It supplies power for the clock and radio station presets. Replace the fuse, hopefully that gets everything working again.

Thanks for the help. I was able to repair the wire and replace the fuse. Got the cigarette lighter, courtesy lights, and dome light working, but still no horn. Digging into that issue next. Thanks for the help.

first, find the horn relay. Check for power on the orange wire. If you have power, use a fused jumper wire to jump power from the orange wire to the green wire. If the horn works, check for continuity to ground on the 3rd wire (probably a black wire) it should show a ground when pushing the horn button. If not, you have no horn trigger.

Find the black wire at the turn signal connector. That should be the ground trigger for the horn relay. Ground it, hopefully the horn sounds. If so, the trouble is above the turn signal connector.

if you have power to the orange wire, a ground trigger to the black, and the horn sounds when you jumper orange to geeen, you need a new horn relay.

Update: Thanks Matt69Olds for the helpful post. I was able to follow your steps and trace my problem back to the steering wheel. Looks like I am missing the connector pin so its not grounding when I hit the horn. Ordered the parts I need and will fix it once ordered.
