Ok I was watching some vids on adjusting my choke on my quadrajet, thought it was going to be simple, well I screwed up a little I think!
Can someone give me a step by step on how to adjust it from scratch?

Just to explain a little, I noticed my choke was always about a half inch open even after sitting all night, so I thought I'd try to adjust it on my own, something I should have had help with but you learn from mistakes right? Lol

It wont close until you fully depress and release the throttle.

I usually set my choke and fast idle screw as light as I can get away with without the truck stalling (or stalling much) in winter. I don't go by choke plate gap, or spring resistance, only by testing and driving.

I even filed a couple more "steps" in the fast idle cam to make the progression off of fast idle a bit nicer.

And I daily drive my truck way up here in Canada.

Carbs confuse the hell out of me to be honest, and I know I shouldn't be messing with it but I have to learn sometime! Lol the video I saw made it look so simple but when attempting it didn't seem so simple! I got the plate all the way closed but when I tried to start I hadn't pressed the pedal down, after cranking and pushing the pedal down it fired up and I was able to drive down the road, then I shut it off and started it back up and it started up fine without the throttle, later this afternoon, I'm going to try and see where the plate is and if she will start right up again. I may have got it right but won't no for sure until late this afternoon.

Ok, well after letting it sit all day and a balmy 40 degrees, I decided to check my carb choke adjustments I made last night, to my shock and awe, I pushed the throttle with my hand and the choke closed almost all the way, went in the cab and cranked it over, almost fired first turn, and no pumping! On second crank it fired up with no gas pushed, I'm guessing I did ok? Lol I'm thinking its a win, a small one I'm sure but one never the less! Hahaha

Now check that it opens all the way when warm. Takes several minutes.

This is where it was staying most all the time, even when cold!
