Center Cap Dimensions

Does anyone know the diameter of the 4x4 rally center cap base? I'm hoping to mount them on a set of el-cheapo Rough Country steel rims but I'd like to know if they'll fit in the wheel before I spend $100 on a set of those center caps.

You can call it 7 inches across the base. It's probably 7 and 1/64.

I happened to have a set not mounted so I was able to take a quick measurement.

Are you going to drill holes in your new wheels for the bolts? I know the bolts are semi-self tapping.

Awesome! Thanks for the measurement. I don't think drilling holes in the rims will work since the bolt would hit the hub, I guess it depends how thick the rim is. I'm thinking I'll have to grind out that raised plastic on the backside of the center cap and then Tig weld a nut to the face of the rim in that location. Yes, I'll have to grind away some of the powdercoat on my new rims, but it will be minimum. I'll touch it up with some paint and no one will ever see it anyway since it will be under the caps. Then I'll use some nice stainless steel cap screws or something to attach them.

I ordered one rim as my test rim; they're only $53 so if it doesn't work out it's not a huge deal.

I have the original white spoke wheels and they have short self tapping bolts and don't hit the hub. I've had a couple messup over the decades and bought american racing replacements that are really close, I put those on drill press drilled the holes and all worked.
