Station wagons, carbs, 25+ years old,.... is not conducive to achieving 25 MPG IMO

I'd be inclined to agree. If you really want good gas mileage, get an early-to-mid 90's fuel injected Honda/Toyota. They are dead reliable, easy to work on, and get great gas mileage.

yep....just helped my niece pick out a little 90 Civic. It was owned by a grandma with relatively low mileage. Wasn't as "cute" as she wanted (pewter paint) but I told her that with the budget she has to work with either you get cute but no go or something that is mechanically reliable and clean looking but not the color you want :) She's had it for about 3 months now and it runs like a top and gets her good MPG.

While I strongly disagree on the fuel injection issue that's ok we can agree to disagree she drives a 95 carola now and it will cost to much to keep running so we are going to get something we can keep for a loooonnng time on a shoestring budget and something she can be proud to drive were not big fans of these shoebox cars and she wans something classy.... lol there's a 61 thunderbird round the corner she absolutely loves but fords fe motor cost to much to run lol there are allot of pre efi cars that get over 25 mpg I just need ideas to show her so we can decide on something

Vega wagon or a Monza hatchback would be nice. The Monza you'll have to strip all that 80's emissions stuff but once you get it dialed in and set up right it should run great and get goo mpg too. Always liked the Vegas and Monzas.

80's Chevy Celebrity or Cavalier with the Tech 4 motor. Or S-10 P/U with a 4 banger. If you can find any.

No shoe box cars, No Fuel injection, no electronic spark control, 25 years old, 25mpg, IMO equals NO WAY.

I am curiouse. What are the "pre EFI" cars that get over 25 mpg?

Don't you mean Chevy Vega? Chevelle and Vega are two very different things and from what I've heard the Vega is a POS. You might wanna stay away from those. If you're really looking for something older but gets good MPG and you can get for fairly cheap why not consider a Celebrity or a mid 80's Cutlass :waytogo:
