Canyon Copper?

I'm looking to get some touch-up paint for the truck but I'm having a hard time finding the right color codes. On the build sheet the paint is listed as 55U - 55 Canyon Copper. I can't seem to find any reference to Canyon Copper online. Anyone know what I am missing here?

Anyone at all? I found Eastwood sells "Canyon Dusk Copper" which looks pretty close, but I was hoping to get some touch-up mixed to OE spec and have it loaded in spray cans. Looks like I may not be able to...

All of the paint code ident sites out there have no listings for the color Canyon Copper being available in 1986. Yet here is my build sheet to prove that it was!

I'll have to ask my body shop next time I'm up there if they know anything about the color code, but based on the info I have seen I doubt it!

Just take the truck or a painted piece of it to a good automotive paint store and they can color match the paint and fix you up with a touch up kit. This would probably work better since more than likely the paint has faded over the years unless the paint job is relatively recent.

Oh it has definitely faded. There are still some good spots in the interior though that they can get a good sample off of. Good idea. I'll try it.

What he means is is that they can get a sample of the faded paint, so when you go to touch up, the paint will look the same and not a fresh spot then the rest looking like its faded

Just joined this site and saw your post from years ago. I also have a 86 k10 "Canyon Copper" my code is the same as yours. I ordered the truck summer of 85 and took delivery Oct 15 1985 I chose that color from a chart. I still have it. I posted a photo on Square body nation site. Had some try to tell me that's its not canyon copper. searched canyon copper and images showed some different shades all saying it is Canyon Copper. It was offered I HAVE ONE.

I've got the PPG color chips all through the 80's, I'll see if I can turn something up.

Was it the basic medium gold color? A friend of mine used to have an '86 C10 that was the medium gold. I remember the Canyon Copper name, but not the shade.

My books don't seem to have it. But I also am missing the last page of the PPG book for the GM colors, which of course is the truck colors. But it's not listed in the Astro Van chart, or any of the '85 Charts either. The closest I can find is in the '86 Martin Senour book. It shows code 51 "Colorado Gold", which is not in the PPG books. GM reused some codes and renamed some colors for different lines, but I doubt it's the same color.

I'm taking a bit of a guess, but it could be a different name for "russet". My grandpa's '78 was that color from the factory.

I found this website and it seems to have most of the color codes.

Code 55 is called "russet" and I bet that's the color.

In '86, russet was a color used on cars too. I'll go look what my book says the code is.

Well I'm an idiot, lol. The pic I posted of the '86 Martin Senour truck colors shows code 55 "Russet" right there. Duh, lol.
