ok i am trying to troubleshoot an o2 code (1-3) i think it may be the result of some other electrical issue as i have replaced the sensor with a new bosch, so i have found a few cut wires and will start with this one.

this is from some electrical connection between my tbi and the distributor. it was clearly cut but not sure what its for?

thanks as always for any help.

i should note that im assuming this is the coil but where would this wire go? I see nothing in the area for it to connect to.

Aftermarket tachometer?

yup, thats the tach wire.
the only wire for the o2 is a purple wire that goes straight to the ecm from the o2 sensor, make sure its no against the exhaust manifold. also, if you have a smog pump, the ecm will throw an o2 sensor if there is a fault with the pump or the diverter valve.

OK good info....So the diverter valve is on the pump? Have you heard of these trucks being brand sensitive? I thought I saw somewhere a guy was able to stop his o2 code by buying a delco sensor. Its just another $50 so I am reluctant to do it.

The diverter valve is usually mounted above the air pump, and has a 2wire connector, with a pink(power wire,12v) , and a brown or tan wires(computer controlled ground from the ECM), and has a vacuum line running to it. they are pricy to replace, unless you can find one at the wrecker.
As Far as sensors, and spark plugs, many of us have found that it is worth the extra scratch to stick with delco, but you can use any aftermarket brand if the dollars are tight, just dont be surprised if you have a rougher than usual idle, and different mpgs.
