I can' tell what the suffix code is.
It looks like c n r (or a p)
The r is upside down and looks like someone stamped on op of it.

I also can't figure out rest of the number (101164418)

Do you see the R at all?
Is there another way to confirm anything. I'm just curious

CNB and CNR are both 1970 350, but I wouldn't trust that block stamping without a VIN match to verify original vehicle. The last character looks altered, even for 1970 GM assembly line at beer:30.

Maybe. GM of Canada has all the build records for vehicles either built in Canada or built in the US for Canadian sale.

They ask for the complete VIN, but since you have the numerical portion for a 1970 model year truck built in Oshawa maybe they would look it up for you. They return the complete option content for the vehicle, including engine RPO and build quantities.

I would be willing to bet it's a 1970 307 someone was trying to pass off as a 350...

The 307 is a 283 with a 327 crank. Shorter stroke and larger bore than a 305. Not a bad motor actually. It has a fair amount of low end torque making it a pretty decent small V8 truck engine.

What's the block casting number behind the LH cylinder head? That should narrow down the displacement.

Is the block drilled and tapped for the Clutch Z-Bar pivot ball? Not definitive but if it's an un-molested 307 with those stamped numbers it prolly won't have the hole.

I'l have to check again had it on my old phone and I'll get it again tonight but when I checked out the back casting number it looked it came back as a 350
I' just curious because the po said that the p.o. before him swapped the motor with that of a Chevelle and I just want to make it easier on myself getting parts

I have to agree. If it was original to an A-Body then it's a 307.

You can check the crankshaft casting number as well but the block number should tell the tale fairly well.

Put some 305 closed chamber heads with the small valves and you would have a stump puller.:happy107:
