just wondering if there was a way to convert a 1/2 ton (6-lug) 10 bolt to a 8 lug axle or did they do something special to the 3/4 ton ten bolts

Nothing special, just change everything from the backing plates on outward. The lockouts are the same though.

*edit* you can use your current calipers too. So you need to change the backing plates, hubs, and rotors... I can't remember for sure if the bearings are the same.

Don't quote me on it, but I think they were the same, year for year. '77 and up were the larger spindles and bearings.

Shoot him !!! I needed them too so I could put my 14ff in one of my trucks. You HAD some hot parts that are regularly sought after for just this purpose of putting 3/4 or 1 ton rear ends in 1/2 tons. :Get him!::chair:

Calipers are not the same between 1/2T and 3/4T. Yes they will bolt up.
Their is a difference in piston sizes. Theres also a difference in master cylinders. 3/4T had bigger pistons in the caliper and in the master cylinder.

You are correct. However, the piston is only something like 2mm bigger if I'm remembering correctly. The master cylinder has a bigger bore, mostly to make up the difference for the bigger rear brakes.

When I swapped my 1/2 ton Burb to 3/4 ton (with 1 ton rear drums), I left my stock half ton master cylinder in place. It gives the truck a nicer pedal feel, the only down side is it requires frequent rear brake adjustment, to keep the pedal height up where it belongs. This setup actually seems to work better than my brakes on my real 3/4 ton Burb.

I am picking up a truck next week and it has one of these 8 lug hubs on a light 3/4 ton axle that you can put on a 1/2 ton axle. if anyone is interested let me know.

I'm for sure interested. I want to put one of my 14b full floaters in one of my K10/K1500's.

How much stronger are the 8 lugs? Are they worth the extra money when they break? Because they will break...and you'd have to buy new wheels are redrill centers..
