Can Someone Please Tell Me What This Is?

Hey Everyone,

I just got my first square body and am cleaning up the engine bay and installing a new intake, carb, headers, ect. There is one component though that I don't recognize. It has a bunch of hoses attached to it and looks like some kind of vacuum or temp control switch but I don't know exactly what it is and I want to take it out. There are some stamped numbers on the side and I looked them up in all kinds of combinations and still cant find anything. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Thanks! Do you by chance know of any issues ill run into when removing it? Like parts I should order now or things I should do to make sure I stay alive... Or any reason to keep it and just reroute the hoses so that it looks better

If you have headers to install and no emissions testing, yank it out. No need for it.

Don't trash it though. Many states require testing and one of the members here might just need it, so if you can remove the AIR manifold pipes, brackets and all, then try to do so without tearing it up and then offer it up to someone who needs it.

lol them californians are always trying to get their hands on our stuff when they could just pick a better state to live in... I won't trash it HotRod. I was planning on keeping it in case I need it or like you said I start feeling generous and help someone else out that really needs it.

Off topic but you might want to reroute your fuel line. Strapped to the heater hose you will be super heating your fuel and could actually run a bit lean. It is kind of opposite of drag racers running their fuel through a cool can filled with ice.

Ya I thought about that but wasn't sure if it would really make a difference. Also I live in Phoenix and will only use my heater when I go off roading in Colorado. But I was planning on mounting it to a stud coming out of my firewall. Just havent figured out exactly how yet. I know alot of people dont mount it but it really bothers me to have it just hanging there. Especially since I plan on running it hard after I get it all nice and shiny lol.

some counties in Arizona require smog checks if you live there you need to keep it. if not get rid of the whole system. yeah get that fuel line off the heater hose, dang rocket scientist did that one, not. highdesertranger

Tuscon requires smog checks if you live there, or if you COMMUTE THERE.
