can i lower this truck

hey guys I want to lower my truck in the back only, maybe 2 or 4 inches . my ????? is will it hit the spring bump stop, and can I still tow 10000lbs I am not removing any springs.

For a 2in drop, buy a pair of 2in drop shackles. If you want a 4in drop, mount your front spring hangers 4in higher on the frame in addition to the 2in drop shackles. As far as hitting the bumpstops, you need to measure the distance from the axle to the bumpstops now and under a load. That will tell you if they will hit after a 2in or 4in drop. If they will hit loaded you have a couple of options, you can install helper air bags, remove the bumpstop mounts, or c-notch the frame.

if I was towing 10,000 lbs I wouldn't lower it at all. 10,000 is at the max of towing ability of your truck. I don't think anything you do to lower your truck is going to keep the tow rating up that high. highdesertranger

Towing 10,000lbs don't mean nothing to a lowered truck, its the tongue weight that matters.



makes a lot of sense did not look at it from that angle
