Can a guy replace rear barn door glass at home?

I have a 1990 suburban with rear barn doors and 1 glass is broken i was told that those were just held in by the rubber strip and they were easily replaced at home with the rope trick (whatever that is ) is this true can i Replace it and if so how? Or was I misinformed and is this something best left to the glass man?

Yes, it can be done at home. You just have to be very careful if you aren't familiar with the process. There's probably some good youtube videos, it's the same process as many older pickup windows.

I got both of mine out without breaking them. But I didn't care a whip about anything but the glass - both doors ended up getting scrapped. And the only reason I saved them is I just didn't feel right about scrapping good defroster rear glass. They're just sitting in my shop if anyone wants them. You pay shipping from 98685, but free otherwise. Both defrosters worked, too.
