Be cautious when going to a brighter bulb. You don't want to get so bright that it begins to deform or melt the lens.
IIWM, I'd install an LED.

There's a site called SuperBrightLEDs (or something original like that).....seem to have decent quality stuff. I bought all my LED dash lamps from theme. Have to get the number off what you have and see what they have. Most all bulbs have LED replacements now.

Yes, just pay attention to length of the overall bulb. If it doesn't work simply rotate it as they are polarized.

I recommend going with warm white LED's, which doesn't make the interior look pale blue. That's what I have and the light looks like from regular bulb.
Avoid "CANBUS" type LEDs, they simply have some extra resistors added to fool computers in modern cars that there is an incandescent bulb present. They generate more heat which makes them fail.

Curious, since these are for the exterior cab marker lights and they have the amber lens over them. Would LED amber lights be a good choice, or stick with the soft white. Didn't know what amber bulbs in amber lenses would do...

I got these and they work good. They Also make them in white for cab light.

I ended up just going with the standard 67 Sylvania long life bulbs. I have one of the entire lights I might have to replace. My electrician friend looked at it briefly and couldn't figure it out. When he touches his meter on the inside of the socket where the end of the bulb touches it is showing 12 volts. He told me to use a wire brush on the inside of the socket and clean it good and figured it would work since it's getting power and is grounded. Tried multiple bulbs, cleaned the inside of the socket and used the bulb contact grease and it won't light up...
