It got rather cold tonight (in the 20's) and on my way home my speedo would climb normally until about 40-45 MPH and then double the speed. As this happened, it got a nasty buzzing sound coming from the back side of it. Once I slowed to below 45 MPH, the buzzing would stop and the speedo would function normally again.
It has been working fine with an occasional bouncing needle. I do not believe this is cable related as it would have an opposite effect. I'm thinking a gear inside the speedo has slipped.
