Hey guys, I'm not new to forums but I'm new to this one so I hope I'm posting in the right spot, anyways I finally got the chance to buy my dads truck off of him thats been in the family for a long time: 1984 gmc k1500 high sierra with almost all the options; 52 yellow paint, saddle brown interior, dual shocks up front, etc.. so first on the list is the driver side lower shock mount broke off the axle, I've been looking for a new replacement so the question is does anyone know where to get one or am i going to have to weld it back together, I'd rather weld a new one to the axle, cant seem to find the exact one I need, I uploaded pics, hope they went through (I'm posting from my phone) a few pics of the broken side and one pic of the passenger side thats not broke. Thanks for any input

I don't think you'll be able to find a factory stamped mount. You'll need to stop by an off road shop, or online supply house to get an aftermarket mount. Odds are, the one you buy will be stouter than the one you replace.

It'll be easy enough to fab one up instead of trying to find one.

If you intend on keeping the dual shocks, you should add another bracket to put both shocks in double shear. Currently, the added on shock is in single shear which can put a fair amount of torque on that lower shock mount causing it to crack and tear, exactly what happened.

Double check the upper mounts to make sure they're in double shear as well.

When I broke one in the early 90's, I just had a muffler shop fab it up.

Yep. Tops are both double shear. Just add on another bracket to the outside of the 2nd shock on the lower mount, tie em together and you'll be good to go.
