If the caliper is off the rotor and just hanging there, and you press the brake pedal, how far should the piston come out of the caliper?
I ask because on my truck, the brakes have never been right. When I bought it, only the insides of the rotors were worn, outsides looked brand new. So I replaced the calipers, rotors, pads, master cylinder, and powerbooster (truck had been sitting for ~8 years)
When I got it all together, I wanted to see if it all worked as it should, and when I pressed the brakes, the piston doesn't push out a whole lot. Should it pretty much come all the way out as if the pads were worn completely? Or would it take a lot of pedal pumps to get it to that point?
Sorry for the long post, but brakes are important
