I have an 82 c10. I’ve been chasing some kind of gremlin for a few weeks and I’m at a loss. Looking for some suggestions as I couldn’t find my issue doing a search on previous threads.

My turn signals are inoperable, the front comes on solid and nothing happens in the rear. My running lights all work, and my brake lights are also inoperable. So far I’ve done all the following:

Replaced all bulbs
Replaced every bulb socket
Replaced brake switch
Replaced turn signal switch

It has to be a ground issue somewhere, but I’m at a loss. Don’t know what else to replace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not ground,if the taillights work.Id inspect the rear taillight harness real good and the wiring to the rear good. Turnsignals and brake share the same hot lead.

Incandescent or LEDs bulbs?
I have to ask- are you sure you are using the correct bulbs?-brake lights & front turn signals are dual filament bulbs.

There is a ground at each taillight. You have to remove the lens AND fixture to see them.
That would be the first place I would check.
Hopefully the PO didn't bugger up the rear harness with a trailering wire.

I’ll do that. I did all the notch and stuff myself and I could have possibly damaged something in the process. Thank you.

It looks like a black extension cord running to the back plug. I don’t think that’s how it looked from the factory. There were wire nuts all over this thing.

I believe you've found the problem.

wiring diagram LINK
In case you didn't have the wiring diagrams. 1980 or 1983 should be pretty much the same as 1982.
The diagram of the turn signal switch just solved my problem. Intermittent no brake light starting with the right side 6 months later killing both brake lights. I am a 64 year old shop owner and piddler so I had to try and help out our customer. This is his 81 step side. We used some aftermarket camper lights for the square holes already frenched in the fenders. Used a $24.00 break out box to separate the feed for signal lights and brake lights. First butcher shop paint job was peeling and rocker and rear cab panel were killed and filled. Came out nice. Axalta base and clear.
