Looks like your garden variety J7 bracket to me.

Could it be for a switch of some sort? Did you remove it a long time ago and just forgot where it came from?

Bare steel makes me think it goes under the dash. The round hole makes me think it's for mounting a switch to a clutch or brake pedal bracket.

I've seen manual chokes with a bracket similar to the one in question. Mounts to the underside edge of the dash.

Yes, I removed it so long ago that I forgot where it went. Bucket mentioned it might go under the dash, so I could be the mount for the clutch switch as my truck is a manual transmission.

im thinking a bracket for the hi speed tail light gears. but i have been wrong before. :rotflmao:

Actually C10MixMaster, I looked at the options list that is in the glove compartment, and I did order it with the high speed tail light gear option. You could be right, now I just need to find those high speed tail light gears.:33:
