Had an unexpected blow out yesterday about a mile and a half from home. Only travelling about 40 mph and stopped within seconds but the tire came apart and damaged the **** out of my box side. Ripped the front and rear bright metal moldings off, folded the lower rear quarter, tore the front fender strut off, put a tear in the front of the wheel opening and bent the front lower section outward. Even damaged the tail pipe. Truck didn't have a single dent on it before this.
Bad day.

Meeting with them today. I'm sure it's covered but I really liked the original paint patina, which will never be the same now.

Damn! Same thing happened to my truck way back when my father was driving it to montana hauling a loaded up overcab camper.

On a side note, I am very impressed you found a set of 8 lug slot mags! Disregarding the new damage, you have a beautiful truck.

Thanks blindchicken.
The truck is down at the tire shop right now getting 4 new BFGoodrich All Terrains installed and a new set of wheels. If anyone wants the slot mags, they're in pretty decent shape, I have all 5 of them with five 33 inch tires between 75 and 90% tread remaining, all caps and lug nuts. $400 and they're yours.

Same thing happened to me but with a 35 bfg mud terrain
Folded exhaust pipe down to the ground crushed the rear wheel well. Those tires where only 3 years old after that 2 more separated but i caught them in time before any damage was done. Switched to goodyear mtr see how they do in az sun.

NOPHO, I can feel your pain! lol
Just got mine back from the tire shop. Went with the BFG 265/75/16's. They're about an inch and a half shorter than the 33's I had on there. I'm real happy with the look.

Thanks NOPHO,
Now that I have no choice but to repaint the damaged area, I think I'll have the entire truck painted and go with the two tone. Seeing as it has the Cheyenne trim with all the bright metal pieces still in place I think a white center panel and roof will work well with the white spoke wheels.

Sorry about the damage.

It's ironic that some idots will drive a flat home because they don't want to change a tire. The darn thing will fall apart with pieces flying everywhere like a rubber grenade. And somehow, their cars escape damage. Go figure.:shrug::shrug:

I've seen it too. There's no justice.

Im very conscientious when it comes to tires especially since I have four trailers...24ft flatbed, 18 ft flatbed and a 14 ft dump bed and a 28 ft enclosed car hauler.
I was hauling some materials (close to 8000lbs) with a one year old set of 10 ply tires a few months ago with my 18ft tandem axle flatbed. I lost the tread on the rear passenger side tire going 70 mph down a 3percent grade. Needless to say by the time I was able to safely pull to the side of the highway, the carcass was the only part left on the wheel. When I had the trailer up on a jack, changing out the tire.....I looked under the trailer to discover that the inner steel cross frame beam was bent upward at least 6 inches! Its a shame what a tire can do. Here in Phoenix (aka the surface of the sun rather than the "valley of the sun")...tires take a beating due to the heat. At least with the last of the GM metal trucks....it can be finessed back for the most part. I constantly see plastic parts and pieces along the roadways from blown out tires tearing apart late model vehicles. At least in my situation, the tires are warrantied, but the damage caused to the vehicle or trailer still sucks. I just hope there wasnt a biker behind me when the tread let loose.
