Blazer or Suburban tank for relocation?

Just thought I would ask the question of what works between the rear framerails on my 79 C10? I keep hearing blazer, but I actually have a suburban stashed on my property in the mountains (if I ever get up there). I am not against buying a new tank, but would hate to if the one in my 86 suburban would work. Figured there are guys on here who have already "been there, dunnn that", so I thought I would ask the experts.

Burban 40 gallon might be a tight squeeze for what your building Blazer tank is only 25 gallon but will still sit below the frame a bit. It might be perfect for you tho. with your false floor. You could put the pinch seam above the frame.

I could and might. Probable a 25 gal. is enough for me. I would like to save that space above for my compressor and air tanks if I can.

start from the end of the post and work your way back. They are working on getting the pics fixed. It's a photobucket thing, which forces, those who use it, to update the pics.

Blazer tanks come in 25 and 31 gallon sizes. One is just a little deeper than the other.

Burb tanks come in 31 and 40 gallon sizes. The 40 gallon is a longer tank and reportedly is not a good fit in pickups. Although the Burb is roughly the same length as a longbed pickup, so I'm not convinced.

Blazer/Burb 31 gallon tanks are the same tank.

My M1009, military blazer, with a 6.2 diesel had a 41 gal tank.

Must of been an old aftermarket high capacity tank that was deeper. A factory 31 gallon tank is a hard enough squeeze into a K5, it's basically shoved right up against the back bumper.

It could have been the same size front to back and side to side and just deeper. It had a pretty heavy plate under it too. Both of my Suburbans have a 41 gallon tank also.

It was a stock factory tank but probably specified by the government for the M1009. It was used mostly for a scout vehicle and could do more then 500 miles easily on a tankful of diesel. I wish they had put a OD transmission in them though.

The 31 fits nicely in a C10. And you will enjoy the added capacity over the 26.

Looks like I will have to have a custom tank made cause the distance from the rear crossmember to the front edge of the rear of my c-notch will not let me put a stock tank in it otherwise. Have to search around.
