Back in '98, I got an estimate from Maaco to paint my Impala. There was a few upgrades like jambs and clearcoat, but the estimate was a tad over 2k even back then. Glad I didn't have them do it.
Jeez, that's nuts. I was gonna have a cheap little j@p car I had in high school ('04 or so) just shot single stage, no jambs or anything. I already had it in primer. If I did it during the presidents day sale it would have been a couple hundred bucks, but back then it was even too much for me to afford making all of $7/hr part time, and I just spray painted it for like $30 instead.

A rattle can of rust oleum professional is $10 now. A couple years ago, if you bought six or more at Home Depot, they we $4 and some change. Everything is up, but some stuff went nuts.

I had what I call a trophy years back, a '69 c-10 short step in black clear coat. Couldn't put the dog in the cab and couldn't put anything in the bed (cherry stained ash with stainless strips). Also had a '65 corvette, same thing. Got rid of them both. I have 3 #3 trucks in the garage now that all can be used for their original purpose, work, fun and get the job done. Once you put that nice paint job on the truck you limit what can be done with it. That's a choice every owner has to make. My #2 SSR spends most of it's time on the battery tender.

Maaco quoted me close to $10k to repaint my crewcab. That included some minor ding repair, jams, trim removal, etc. I really didn't think it was that bad considering the one near me has a good reputation and a warranty on their work. They stated they could get it done in 4 weeks as well which is pretty good in my mind. I figure good supplies is probably $3k alone these days for a CC DRW. That's a lot of surface area.

I am actually supposed to drop it off at another shop this week and was quoted $10k as well and 3 months but they are painting interior, pulling fenders, hood, all glass, and painting firewall.
