Ran up on an old 68 C 30 or 35 didn't notice..... it has a Big block, no stickers left. Wondering what engine it could be 427, 366? Before the advent of the 454, though I know who knows now. Pretty cool old truck, very little rust, twin screw, air brakes, one damn big pack rat so, all of the wires are out of the way....?? Was an old farmers truck, so prob dont have 60 k miles on it. Thinking I may buy it for the engine, just wondering what engine it could be??

Just realized I typed wrong, it's a C 60, not C 30, sorry!!

Here is a little trick I learned. Back 40 years ago the local part house would give out free tune-up literature. It listed year make and model and also engine sizes for that model.

Zoom ahead to the internet, Rock Auto, and others, can still help you answer this question. Check out below, Rock Auto only lists one Rat engine for your truck. It should be a 396 if it was never swapped.

I would rather think it would be a 366, Possibly a 427, but doubtful. I am almost positive it's NOT a 396, unless it has been replaced at some point??

Yes sir, thanks to Wayne, learned those are the 3 options as well as a 468? sorry was tired when I was looking last night. Do you have any experience with a 366? Had never heard of one till recently, and has not been positive. In the engines defense it is in a fire truck (brush truck) and the boy normally driving it has been letting it get almost hot for several years, running around 210 to 230, can imagine hotter when fighting fire???
