Hello to All,
Looking for some suggestions for the best door hinge lubricant you use.
From what I can remember the factory service manual recommends plain engine oil.
I have tried many different lubricants and I haven't found one that really works good.
They all seem to work only for a short period of time.
I usually try to inject or drip some liquid lubricant into the pins/bushings.
Saturating them with spray always makes a huge mess all around the door hinge assembly and takes forever to clean up.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Whatever penetrating oil spray can that still has a wand installed. The old t-shirts your wife chucks in the trash are now your over spray clean-up devices. I do mine every oil change as a minimum, more often if the winds blows a bunch of dust and other S. Texas junk our way.

I use fluid film
Thanks for that suggestion too.
I have to confess I've never heard of Fluid Film before now. But I have heard of lanolin-based products for firearms.

we use a lot of fluid film at work. It seems to hang around longer than petroleum based lubricants. Very tacky.

After cleaning and rebuilding mine they wouldn't stop squealing... Figured out it was the spring rubbing in its cradle. I brushed a little bearing grease on everything then tried to melt it in with some penetrating oil and wiped everything clean after

I use fluid film on pretty much everything. Clings and creeps very well.

Spoken like a true Notherner!
Like Franks Red hot. I use that sh t on everything! Lol
It is good stuff. But following this thread as the drivers door on the 86 seems to develop the same little creak regularly. It’s the spring I’m 99% sure. Can’t say what works best as I have tried several different things. It just comes back after a while.

Thanks again to all for all the feedback so far.
Greatly appreciated.
And as some have commented, I have discovered that what is squeaking in my case is actually not the hinges themselves.
It's the heavy spring that rides against the little wheels to keep the door propped open.
Thanks again

I use and like WURTH HHS. Pricey but you don't need much and it stays where you spray it.
