Definitely going to start there. If for some reason it ends up riding like ****, I'll pay the $155 for Belltech's 2" lowering spring...

...just don't use a cutting torch. :whymewhyme:

That's a good way to start and save some money too. You can find some decent deals on drop coils as well. Just remember Bell Tech stopped manufacturing in the USA years ago...no worries, most of the spindles out there are forged in China:sorry:

Air Bag It.com also carries a complete line of all things used to lower including spindles, coils, shackles, airbags, compressors...yada yada etc. Air slam it has a package deal for a full air bag set up that I have been pondering for phase three of my build. I met with a tech at the Good Guys carshow last weekend in the vendor are that lit the fuse....now I am determined to bag and drag my square (something I've always wanted to do once the technology got better).

Yeah I realize the errors of heating sprung steel. I'll use a reciprocating saw...

HAHA that was awesome!

How much lower were you with 1 full coil?

This is where I sit with a 3" drop spindle and 1" lowering spring.

Not sure who the question was directed towards, but cut one full coil and you'll be 2-2 1/2" lower

That would get my wheel opening down just past the top of my tire. Can I run this low without scraping anything?

Might start with 1/2 or 3/4 coil and see what I get.

Yeah, start with 1/2 coil first then see. I think you'd probably be ok to go one full coil without scraping but it's better to be safe than sorry.

What setup do you have on your burb? I want my front wheel sitting just like yours is in the pic in your sig.

2" drop spring and 2 1/2" drop spindles (both from Western Chassis). The springs I cut a coil off of because when I put them in (first installed them by themselves so I could see what the result without the spindle) they actually didn't drop me anything. I'm thinking it's because my original front springs were saggy due to being 30 years old LOL Cutting the full coil out gave me 2 1/2" of drop so I've got a full 5" of drop both front and back. This summer I'm going to cut another 1/2 coil out to get another inch of drop in the front and I'll call it good for the stance. Right now, mine's 100% level but looks like the rear is saggy due to the fender wells so I think if the front is down another inch that'll be perfect for me.

That's the exact problem I'm having. The body line and rockers on my truck are dead level, but because of the difference in wheel openings, it looks like I have negative rake.

I'll keep trimming till I get it right...

I'd definitely be conservative with it and start with just a 1/2 coil or less if you're level now and overall happy with the height but just wanting to make some minor tweaks.

Ended up taking 3/4 coil out which dropped it just over an inch. But man it made all the difference...

Finally my OCD is satisfied.

Nice and I like the background in the pic as well. I miss the East coast (originally from Pa.)

Looks great.

From what i have seen often over the years is that 1in drop spring dont give you much or any drop and 2in drop springs give you 1in drop. Not sure why.

Im not crazy about cutting springs more or less than one complete round because of the way it sits in the pockets. But if it works....it works.
