Ok guys my first post here. I have an 85 k10 that i recently pulled out of the barn and started driving daily again. Here's the problem. It dtsrted oit draining the battery when i left the ac or heat on now it drains tje battery when just sitting at work. I thought maybe i had a bad diode in the alternator so i replaced it. I have pulled the fuses out of the ac and it's still doing it I'm lost. Any thoughts. Thanks in advance

Pretty much everything either runs from alternator post or junction block. Can test each wire at the time for current deaw to find which circuit is at fault.

How old is the battery? If your disconnecting it and it goes dead it’s crap.

Not trying to be an ass here. Just stating a law of physics. But Honky Kong is right.. One machine, three machines, even if tested by ten machines.. There is no way on this green earth that an electrical circuit having a drain somewhere in it can drain a battery if that battery is not connected to the circuit.. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if the battery went down while not connected, you have a bad battery....

I don't see my post as worthy of preservation.. Honky Kong's five word statement didn't seem to get through, so I simply tried a more (to use your word) "epic" approach.. :signs8:

Just the way you worded the part I put in green. It struck me as funny in the way it brooks no argument. There's no rebutal available for it. It's like the final word on wether a battery is good or not.

Perhaps you and I read the meaning in the first sentence of his post concerning the "3 machines" differently.. I read it to mean "That can't be right as 3 machines say the battery is good..".. It sounded to me like he was changing the battery just to prove you wrong..

Maybe I came across a little assful (is that a word), but as I stated, that wasn't my intention.. I just wanted to reinforce the bad battery diagnosis..

Not "a battery", but HIS battery. As it applies to his situation, you read the message as I intended..

Fellows, I grew up in a world where you did not question the teacher.. I viewed this as Honky Kong was being questioned..

I would like to argue this statement and add that it is possible that he has the most gangsta ass battery draining circuit in the history of man. That is all
