Interesting - so maybe it is the front driveshaft spinning even though everything is unlocked

Commonly caused by overpacking the front hubs. The grease actually acts as viscous coupling and will drive the axles, differential and front drive shaft. No real harm - maybe a minute loss of fuel economy due to the added load of spinning the axles/drive shaft.

What? ya have never desert raced in 4wheel high @ over 100mph before?

me and a couple dudes i know make desert runs and one time the dude didnt put on his seat belt when we hit an OH **** bump and he landed in my lap while i was trying to keep it straight and not wreak the truck.......

the other point was that if a front driveline is done right,, it wont take out your oil pan,, and i have seen that happen many times by not having the driveline done right.........:suicide:
