So this morning while headed to work "Smurf" was feeling quite chipper in this 50 degree Texas morning weather. Got up to 70 no issue, decided why not and went WOT. I noticed upon putting pedal to the metal there was pop/backfire from the exhaust and slight hesitation. It only did it when i went WOT, if i hold WOT its great, only upon initial WOT. Could this be a cold weather lean issue? never did it during warmer weather. 74 C10 Edelbrock 1406 SBC350

Thanks

I want to say that a backfire through the exhaust would be a super rich condition. May have gotten a little too much juice from the accelerator pump when you goosed it.

I agree with this, especially since it was a mid 50 degree morning as opposed to a 75-80 degree Texas morning. I spoke with a couple of the guys in my club and it was suggested the hesitation was due to secondary issues. I was told to get a tuning kit and rebuild the carb while im at it. I also just traded for vortec heads with a cam, lifters and intake.

the 1406. Welcome to Edelbrock carbs. It's tuned rich out of the box, how long have you had it?
