Axle flip problem

Easiest thing to do in my honest opinion and if I was in that situation, is check the thickness of the metal on the perch, if strong enough, weld a nut on the leaf side all around the nut onto the perch, once you know for fact it will clear that way its a threaded fixed nut and he could just remove one side the side facing the thirdmember with the right bolt. He has no welder so definitely needs to find a buddy that can weld come over with a welder or put it together then have it driven to a reputable shop even an exhaust shop and have them do it.

That’s what I thought initially. If you look closely the spring plate obscures the perch eye. However, if there’s room for a nut, I don’t think we’d be looking at this thread.

OP could barely bend the perch if welding isn’t an option. The shock body and bushing may have enough float to not notice..

I think there's enough wiggle room to do a heat n beat on the shock mount. But most people that can't weld also don't have a torch outfit.

You sure you have the "U" shaped bracket that locates the axle
Turned the right way? If it's not, that could be your problem.

For sure, if he didn't have this problem we wouldn't be here LOL, something has to be lined up wrong because belltech shouldnt be able to get away with selling a kit that presents that problem. And we only have one photo to go off of, and he is sure quiet.

It is kind of hard to find photos of that specific area when guys did belltech drops and there are so many different prices variations of that drop kit it'll be hard to get an answer.

He more than likely resulted in the heat it and beat it method. I hope not. If I had no welder I wouldve ground the leaf plate and nut down some then weld that nut on the perch and be done with that issue so it never appeared again.

I think the S10 pickups had the shock stud mounted on the plate... Same idea, but no welding.

Hopefully the talk of actually Flipping the Axle does not cause someone to try flipping UPSIDE DOWN. You will trash
your diff.
I am using a flipped "Bottom to Top of Spring" configuration. I needed a die grinder and "Shock mount extensions"
as stock shocks will not work!! Be sure to check shock travel if they bottom out you will also trash the shocks!!

just maybe if and this is a big if the overload was sill there he would have the clearance for a nut. maybe only a thin nut like a jam nut but it might work. being in that configuration the overload will do nothing as far as the ride height goes, but it will move the spring plate down a little. highdesertranger

I have this same issue with my flip from CPP so I am guessing it is a common problem. The guy in the video cut the bolt off about a quarter of an inch to make it fit. I may do that myself but I have left the axle loose for now making up my mind on what to do.

I had bought shock bracket extensions for my axle flip and have the same problem on my drivers side eye bolt hole does not clear the axle plate.
I think mine might have cleared with extensions but my spring pack isn't super thick. I had thought about that as a solution so glad to know it might not be a good one.
