audio system for standard cab

If you guys were going to set up an audio system for a standard cab, how would you set it up? Planning on an 81+ cab so I'll have speakers in the corner of the dash. I have a set of factory speaker mounts from an 86 (~4" fronts, 4x10 rears), an infinity perfect 10" dvc sub, and an Alpine head unit. Not looking to rattle the truck apart, just a good quality well rounded sound. Planning on spending a lot of time in this truck, so good audio is a must.

I'm not opposed to changing the components I listed, they're just what I have laying around.

I've got the same sub under the back seat of my 94, coupled with a Kicker amp, a set of Pioneer 4X6s, powered by a Pioneer head unit, and it seems to do ok.

I personally got would get rid of the 4x10's in the rear cab corners and go with some 6x9's. I bought a nice set of 6x9 boxes from Crutchfield.

The front dash speakers are 3.5" and that size is harder to get good sound out of(much like the 4x10's) so if you have the money it wouldn't hurt to get some kick panels that hold 6.5" speakers.

I'm no expert on audio though, it's just one of my many hobby's.

If you really want sound from behind the seat also use something round.. even 6x9's do not have good sound.. 6 inch back there would be good.. But worry about a front sound stage first plus a sub behind the seat..

GreaseDog, I am in a similar situation, so I will be watching closely to what you do. One thing I might add is to take advantage of sound deadening. That makes a world of difference in the effectiveness of any sound system. Seeing as you are going to spend a good amount of time in the truck, it will be a good route to go regardless.
