Are locking hubs factory or personal add on?

heres the older design but same size i think
Those are external hubs for the ‘big hub’ d44’s from mid 70’s. Those d44’s also had the flat top knuckles.

Not sure if dials will swap between external and the newer internal locking hub sets, but the whole units themselves will not.

I'm considering converting my auto locking hubs to Manual.

Can somebody please set me straight on the O ring with Mile Marker 104 hubs? According to post #27 this hub does not come with an O ring which I would think is needed to seal out water - is that correct? Do you have to order it separately from Miles Marker and why the heck would something so obviously needed not be part of the original hub? I see $35 rebuild kits on amazon PN 402SK that includes an O ring for this hub.

Where can I get just the O ring?

By the way, this is my first post to gmquarebody but I've owned my trusty 1983 K10 since it was born :party33:
