This only works because the shorter rod makes up for the longer stroke. The pistons are the same except one has a flat top and the other is dished. I know you know that, just clarifying for others that might be confused like I was at first.

lol, sometimes i have a hard time saying things that other people can understand.

In my mind it makes sence, but they are like, WTF?????

To add, maybe it's been mentioned already, so forgive me if it has....

In 2003, that was the first year for DBW (Drive by Wire) No throttle cable, used electronic gas pedal. So if that scares you, go with a 99-2002. Do keep in mind those older ones have skirtless pistons that rattle a bit at start up, so if that bothers you... even though it's pretty much harmless.

pedal doesn't bother me either way as long as converting it isn't expensive (parts off donor vehicle).

The plan with the truck is to get more power and better fuel mileage than it gets now and what the 94 k2500 got......both get 11 mpg. Typical of a chevy 350 with my foot in it. I'm the type of driver that goes when it's time to go but I don't burn up the tires doing it. Not a Grandpa nor a Speed demon lol.

I want fuel injection, not tbi. If I wanted tbi, my 94 has it and I could rob parts off of it. I don't know the proper terminology of 1 injector per cylinder....thats what I want lol.

Edited: Multiport Fuel Injection or Direct

I wasn't going to mention it but I would like to build a gasoline vaporizer utilizing the air intake to hopefully increase gas mileage even more.

LOL, I expect some ridicule, but lets try to stay on topic and save the serious bashing for that topic I put up after I get the 5.3 in there.

Dont run it 24/7, but you could mist or inject water into your engine to pick up a little more power/efficency.

I plan to inject both alky and water at WOT.

I have had three 5.3's. One was in a 2000 suburban that I recently retired. Engine still runs great but with all its other issues and rust, it's not worth bringing back again. Has 360,000 miles on it. I owned a 2008 suburban also for a short period of time. It had 130,000 miles on it when I sold it and it burnt oil like crazy. Like a quart every 1,000 miles. Due to that cylinder deaction ****. Funny thing is when I bought it, the last thing i was worried about was the engine. That's why research is so important. I didn't research. If you research those first few years of the 5.3's that cut cylinders you will see it's a common problem. And lastly my 2004 gmc yukon has a 5.3. Now that's another thing about 5.3's. At around 220,000 miles I started going through antifreeze pretty bad. It took me quite awhile to figure out that it had a cracked head. There were some poorer cast heads in 04 and 05. So that's another thing to pay attention too.
On a side note, I dumped in a bottle of stuff (I forget the brand) that can supposedly seal those really hairline cracks. Amazingly it has worked. I have put on 30,000 miles since and it has not used a drop of antifreeze since.
So yes, there are quite a few difference from one year 5.3 to the next.

And I just remembered I had a 2005 Tahoe police interceptor for a short time. Had around 200k miles on it. Was pretty beat up and had issues but it really showed me what a 295 hp 5.3 can do. The difference between the cop car and regular Tahoe is basically no governor and the speedo goes to 140. Among a few other little things like steel rims, heavy duty skidplate, etc. Anyways, that Tahoe would do 0 to 60 in just under 7 seconds and would do an honest 130 mph. Not bad for a lower geared rear end and a 4l60e in a 2wd Tahoe
